Interview: 365gay.com interviewing Devon Hunter
Hey everyone, just wanted to let you know that a story about adult video models and their roles as independent brands within the biz is out. There are comments from a variety of personalities with a wide range of opinions about bare backing in videos, independence vs exclusivity, and other topics. I will include a link to it under the Interviews section of the blog, and you can see it by clicking here as well.

Madame Butterfly
I just got back from Houston, and (as always) I had a wonderful time. I had never seen an opera live before, so when I was asked what I wanted to do, it immediately came into mind. Houston supports a wide variety of high quality arts, and since we’d already seen a musical, a play, and a symphony, I thought “Madame Butterfly” would be a nice way to spend the evening. Oh, it was glorious! All I could say after was, “Damn, that was a lot of voice for a lot of time!” It was amazing to me that the singers had the endurance to get through all of it… And the story, of course, is just revolting (but in a way that makes it beautiful at the same time).
Do you know how the antagonist in a production has done a good job?? I will tell you: When the player comes out for the bows, and you want to boo. The man singing Pinkerton must have been fairly extraordinary, because I absolutely loathe him (which is the whole point). It was a great performance with many talented people, and the set was compelling as well: The minimalist Japanese aesthetic with its simple lines and uncomplicated color palette was very effective at evoking place, but it also highlighted the stark contrasts in moods within the narrative. It was also very poignant to wait all night with Butterfly and Suzuki while the center of the stage literally rotated 360 degrees (in a reference to the passage of time: The wheeling of the stars, or the turning hands on a clock). Such a sad story. I loved it.
Oh, and as a totally separate topic: I heard from a female colleague who had stumbled upon my blog somehow. She thought I might be interested in her site as a resource (which includes blacklists, though these specific lists may not be helpful to M4M people, the rest of the site definitely is). She has a page called “Escort Drama!” There are about 70 survey results given by heterosexual clients and escorts who have been harassed by law enforcement and/or arrested. I have wanted for some time to include information about this under my Career Advice category, but never felt I had access to anyone with any experience. I am hoping she will agree to let me interview her about her insight.
PS
Happy Samhain! I wrote an entry last year explaining what this holiday is, and tomorrow is the first day of the New Year. I think it will be a good time to reflect on November 2009 – October 2010…

Interview: Devon Hunter speaking to Jayson at Cock-2-Go
At the end of June, 2010 I gave a substantial interview to Jayson for his podcast. He interviews a variety of people, and I just happen to be one of the porn models he has interviewed. Jayson has a wide variety of conversations with many interesting people, and I would definitely encourage you to visit his site and peruse the archived conversations. I particularly enjoy the way Jayson injects witty, gay humor into EVERYTHING. He really is wonderful to talk to.
If you have 30 minutes (and the requisite interest in anything I would blab about), I suggest you listen to our conversation. We discussed so many different topics (in no particular order): Stripping, male and female poles, and the economy; DC FUK!T and safe sex; sexual objectification vs. dehumanization; spirituality and guilt; desperation; dating; pricing yourself as an escort; instinct vs. advice; and the list goes on and on. (Which reminds me: One of the very first blog entries I ever wrote came up in this conversation: Your Dollar is Worth About 88 Cents to Me)
I was speaking without a microphone close to my mouth, so I apologize if there are a few moments when Skype had trouble picking up my voice. Other than that, however, I feel that Jayson did a great job of asking a variety of pertinent questions. I welcome any responses here, and I’m sure Jayson wouldn’t mind if you stalked him.

Being a lesser cherub amongst greater angels…
So, I just made an observation while having a beautiful dinner with a delightful client: Many people are transitioning into adult entertainment (even if temporarily), because they cannot find other work. I noted after our dinner that many of the servers in the restaurant should put ads on RentBoy. My client then observed that it would create quite a bit of competition, and I observed that this career isn’t for everyone, which is forturnate since “I am already a lesser cherub amongst greater angels, and I don’t need any more competition.” LOL
So, I don’t know why I felt compelled to share this, but the wine was singing in my brain, and these were the lyrics that danced out of my head. At any rate, I’m going to go enjoy this wine buzz, taste some nice new chocolates, and enjoy the rest of what will sure to be a very pleasant evening.
I hope you are all drinking wine at least as good as what I had with dinner… Muah!
