I’m ready for my close-up
by Devon on Jan.28, 2009, under Appearance, Positivity
Yesterday I went through the narcissistic process of showing how my body has changed over the last few years. The reason I did that is so that today’s posting would have more weight (no pun intended… oh alright, yes it was intended).
Those of you who have read my postings about Swinging Richards know that I’ve had a few rough patches there, in terms of how the place affects my self-esteem. However, I have come full circle. It is time to create new ads for the club, and therefore it is time to take new pictures. Some of the dancers are asked to participate in various shoots.
I have been asked to do a photoshoot for Swinging Richards. If the shoot yields any images worth keeping, then I may very well end up becoming one of the posterboys for the club. The advertising shows up in places like the Damron Guide, and in ad campaigns in other various local, regional, national, and international publications. I won’t get paid for the shoot, but my name would be in any ads with my picture in them, so people could ask for me specifically. I’m excited, not only because of the compliment and potential visibility, but because it means the powers-that-be think I’d represent them well.
I’ll keep you posted on developments. It will take weeks or months, so don’t expect to hear about this again immediately. Oh, and per a request from a reader, I’m going to work on getting some videos of me posted on Youtube. I tried last night, but their server never completed the upload process. Is this a common problem?

Well congrats on being picked for the ad. I really should get a Youtube account. Seeing a video of you might just be the tipping point.

First, the minor point: YouTube seems to be constantly upgrading and changing their technical programming/layout/etc., so that might have something to do with your difficulty in uploading. I do “hear” frequently that people have trouble.
But most importantly, YAAAAAAAAAY YOU regarding the Swinging Richards advertising gig! I can’t wait to see the poster (surely you will reproduce it here when it happens)! I’m sure I’m biased, because I don’t know anything of the other dancers, but for me, what makes you so beautiful is what comes out of your brain, as much as what your body and face look like. I can’t help but think that some of that shines through, and I believe inner beauty makes all the difference, no matter the venue. And as you’ve gotten healthier and healthier inside and out, I bet it only showed more.
Congratulations!!!

thank you to both of you
and yes, i believe firmly that you get back what you send out. i have bad days like anyone, but i do TRY to be nice to people. it makes me the nice guy, and sometimes i suffer financially for it (as irritating as it can be), since so many people like the bad boy image better for their fantasies; however, i’m not going to complain. i’d rather leave work feeling good, so i have no regrets.

You’ve come a long way. You deserve moments like this. I ran across this from RJ and I find the way you write to be really refreshing and honest. Congrats on all that you’ve achieved and keep it up. You are someone worth looking up to.
